Bishop Joseph Mkasa Zuza died in a road accident on 15 January 2015, in Chikangawa forest. He was laid to rest on 19th January 2015 at St. Peters Cathedral. This year, 15th January 2020 marks exactly 5 year anniversary of his death. The diocese of Mzuzu decided to mark this 5th anniversary with the unveiling of the tombstone erected as a memorial of his resting. Just like at his funeral service, the tombstone unveiling ceremony attracted people from within and outside Mzuzu diocese; Bishops, Priests, Brothers, Sisters, a multitude of the lay faithful, leaders of other churches and government officials.
The event re-ignited in people the strong memories of the humble and fearless servant of God. The homily and speeches centred on the late Bishop Zuza’s humility, courage to stand for what is right, and pastoral zeal to establish a self sustaining church.
