The Social Development Commission coordinates the Church's social services and development programs across the Diocese. Through its departments, the Commission addresses the needs of the most vulnerable, promotes human dignity, and builds self-reliant communities.
Catholic Development Commission
CADECOM
The Catholic Development Commission (CADECOM) is the social and development arm of the Catholic Church in Malawi. Within the Diocese of Mzuzu, CADECOM works to improve the quality of life of communities by promoting sustainable livelihoods, food security, disaster risk reduction, health, education, environmental conservation, and good governance.
Guided by Catholic Social Teaching, CADECOM partners with government, donors, and local communities to empower vulnerable people, build resilience, and promote integral human development through participatory and sustainable development programmes.
Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace
CCJP
The Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP) promotes justice, peace, human rights, democratic governance, and social accountability in accordance with Catholic Social Teaching. The Commission empowers communities through civic education, conflict resolution, advocacy, and peacebuilding initiatives that uphold human dignity and the common good.
Catholic Health Commission
Health & Social Care
The Catholic Health Commission coordinates the Diocese's health ministry by promoting quality, accessible, and compassionate healthcare services. It supports Catholic health facilities, disease prevention, health education, maternal and child health, and community health programmes while witnessing to Christ's healing ministry.

Catholic Schools & Institutions
The Catholic Education Commission oversees the Diocese's education apostolate by promoting quality, holistic, and values-based education. It supports Catholic schools, teacher development, religious education, education policy implementation, and the formation of learners in academic excellence, moral integrity, and Christian values.

Safeguarding Office
Protecting Children & Vulnerable Adults
The Safeguarding Office is dedicated to creating safe environments within the Diocese. It promotes child protection policies, ensures the safety of vulnerable adults, and provides training and awareness programs across all diocesan institutions and parishes.
