Saint Joseph of Cupertino
Saint Joseph of Cupertino (1603-1663) was a humble Franciscan friar known for his deep devotion, simplicity, and extraordinary mystical experiences. Despite struggling academically, he became a priest through perseverance and trust in God. He is remembered for his ecstatic levitations during prayer and is honored as the patron saint of students, aviators, and those facing examinations. His life reminds us that holiness is found not in human achievement but in surrender to God’s grace.
Daily Reflection
Today’s Gospel shows Jesus traveling with His disciples and accompanied by faithful women who supported His mission. Their presence highlights the vital role of women in the life of the Church and the importance of collaboration in spreading the Gospel. The Alleluia verse reminds us that true blessing comes not only from hearing God’s word but from living it out in daily life.
The first reading emphasizes the resurrection of Christ as the cornerstone of our faith. Without it, our preaching and belief would be in vain. This truth gives us hope and courage to face trials, knowing that death has been conquered.
We are invited today to reflect on how we support the mission of the Church, through prayer, service, generosity, and witness. Like Saint Joseph of Cupertino, we are called to trust in God’s grace even when we feel weak or inadequate.
Prayer:
Lord, help us to hear your word with open hearts and to live it faithfully each day. Strengthen our hope in the resurrection and guide us to support the mission of the Church with love and humility. Through the intercession of Saint Joseph of Cupertino, grant us perseverance in our struggles and joy in serving you. Amen.
