TWO NOVICES PROFESS FIRST VOWS, BISHOP NYIRENDA ASKS THEM TO KEEP AND LIVE THE VOWS LIFE.

The population of religious sisters under Sisters of the Holy Rosary (SHR) congregation continues to grow in the Diocese of Mzuzu as on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, two Novices made their first profession of vows of chastity, poverty and obedience at St. Denis Parish in Rumphi.
The two Novices were Annie Mbukwa Rodah Ng'oma.
The profession ceremony was led by the Bishop of the Diocese of Mzuzu, Right Rev. Yohane Suzgo Nyirenda.
In his homily, Bishop Nyirenda encouraged the two sisters to remain prayerful in order to fulfill the vows they have made. He also asked fellow sisters, priests, parents and all the faithful to pray for the new sisters, saying the journey they have begun needs prayers.
"On their own they cannot do it, but with your prayers it can really help them," Bishop Nyirenda said.
Mother General for the SHR Sr. Bernadette Mnyenyembe said it is encouraging that more girls are joining the congregation, saying this shows that the congregation is growing in the diocese.
Sr Mnyenyembe also warned men not to confuse the religious sisters especially on not leading them to destroy the vow of chastity.
Sister Rodah Ng'oma, expressed happiness, saying it is something she has been longing to do for a long time. She thanked God for the grace and encouraged other youths who feel called to religious life to accept the call and do God's work.
Catechist Peter Mbukwa , parents to Sr Anie, said as parents they accepted their children decisions wholeheartedly. He said they are very happy to see their daughters joining sisterhood. As parents they will continue praying for their children.
Sr Annie Mbukwa has been sent to work at St Annie's Parish and Sr Rodha Ng'oma is going to St Mary's Parish, both in Karonga diocese.
