Legal Department

The Legal Office of the diocese is mainly tasked with the following functions: advisory; drafting and reviewing contracts and liaising with Advocates in the panel of the Diocese.

a) Advisory

The Legal Office of the Diocese advises all departments within the secretariat on legal issues that arise from their day-to-day operations. The advisory role is also extended to the individual parishes especially through their parish priests, to the religious congregations operating within the Diocese, the institutions established within the Diocese and to individual Christians as are referred to it from time to time through the offices of His Eminence and His Lordship.

b) Drafting and reviewing contracts

The Legal Office drafts and reviews commercial contracts that the Diocese engages in with other entities that need its services and also that provide services to it. It also drafts employment contracts for use within the parishes and institutions within the Diocese.

c) Liaising with Advocates in the panel of the Diocese

The Legal Office liaises with the advocates in the panel of the Diocese to ensure that they obtain all the relevant information and help that they need so as to effectively handle and address legal issues that the Diocese may be involved with or are of concern to it.
